On December 11, CVCC held a pinning ceremony to recognize its Allied Health Sciences program graduates. The event celebrated an important milestone in the careers of these future healthcare professionals.
The ceremonies were held in the IPAC auditorium, where family, friends, and faculty celebrated the graduates. The events began with a welcome from Health Sciences program directors, followed by the presentation of the Spirit of Caring Award and the Rose Awards for Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy.

During the ceremony, the students received pins, signifying their readiness to enter the field as EKG Technicians, Nursing Assistants, Medical Assistants, Medical Lab Technicians, and Phlebotomists. The pinning tradition symbolizes welcoming new healthcare workers into the profession and honoring their dedication and hard work.
CVCC’s Medical Lab Technician program marked an important milestone by graduating its first two students. Program Director Athena Lock expressed her pride: “This achievement represents the hard work and dedication of our students and the faculty who have supported them. These graduates are paving the way for future success in this vital healthcare field.”
One of the highlights of the ceremonies was the lighting of candles and the recitation of each program’s specific creed. These traditions symbolize the transfer of knowledge and a commitment to providing compassionate care.
These ceremonies are a testament to CVCC’s commitment to excellence in healthcare education and its role in preparing skilled professionals to meet the community’s healthcare needs.
