The Nursing Assistant/ Home Health Aide program is an eleven (11) semester hour certificate program designed to provide the student with the necessary theory and laboratory experiences for the development of skills required to qualify as a long-term care Nursing Assistant/ Home Health Aide. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of skills in communications, observations, safety, mobility/body mechanics, personal and restorative care, and infection control necessary to care for patients and clients of all ages.
Upon completion of this program, students should be able to apply the concepts and skills in areas required by the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) and the National Association of Home Care & Hospice and will be eligible to take the Alabama Nurse Aide Certification Exam. Students who demonstrate competency on the exam will be placed on the Alabama Nurse Aide Registry maintained by the Alabama Department of Public Health.
ADMISSION
Individuals interested in enrolling in the Nursing Assistant program must complete the following steps, prior to enrollment:
- Go to cv.edu and submit application to attend classes at CVCC.
- Submit official college and high school or GED transcripts to the CVCC Admissions Office, as well as a copy of photo ID and any necessary residency information.
